Want colour while the sun is still out? This blue smoke product creates a visible cloud rather than an aerial burst, giving you a different look from a conventional night-time firework. The listed smoke duration is around a minute, so it is worth having the camera ready before you activate it.
Blue makes an obvious choice for a blue-themed celebration, but it can also provide a strong backdrop for an outdoor photo session. The shape and movement of the cloud depend on the conditions. Plan your picture around that movement rather than expecting a perfectly still wall of colour.
Where does it work best?
An open outdoor location with a clear background gives the smoke space to show up. For a reveal or party photograph, keep the subjects outside the smoke and use the cloud as part of the background. Or have your subjects emerge dramatically from the cloud of smoke. Allow at least eight metres for spectators, following any greater distance on the supplied label.
Check permission with the venue first, especially where smoke might drift towards neighbouring properties, roads or other guests. Daylight helps you see the blue colour; if your event continues after dark, save the aerial fireworks for their own later slot.
How to set it up and activate it
Check the activation instructions on the actual product before your event. Prepare the location and camera position first, then activate exactly as directed by the manufacturer. Do not assume that every smoke grenade has the same ignition mechanism or is suitable for holding.
Keep the smoke outlet clear and position the product as its label requires. Move clear after activation and do not pick it up while operating or cooling.
A quick safety reminder
